The end of May was cold, but I still found a way to warm up. My two favorite memories were almost back-to-back: my anniversary, and Tab's graduation celebration.
May marked Nicole and I's second anniversary together. As usual, we decided to celebrate by going to Graceland Cemetery in Uptown. Though I had a dress picked out beforehand, we ended up coordinating outfits anyways.
(Nicole stole my coat halfway through because it was cold lol)
Graceland Cemetery is one of the most beloved cemeteries in Chicago. Instead of being somber, Graceland markets itself as more of a community park/curiosity. Throughout the cemetery, you can find many interesting Chicago personalities, including the beloved architect Louis Sullivan and hated union-buster George Pullman. Because theres so many rich people, theres also alot of wacky monuments. For example, Peter Schoenhofen, a brewer, built a literal pyramid as his final resting place. The grave of the aforementioned Pullman, similarly, built an imposing obelisk over his grave, which he supposedly double-wrapped in a concrete and lead box (whether to prevent grave robbers or vampiric-resurrection, whos to say).
One grave we always take a moment to stop at is the Pater plot. The marker itself is very interesting. To me, it looks like a reference to the ancient Egyptian sun-god.
Last year, we got Italian food, so this year we decided to switch it up and get Chinese. We made it in time for lunch, so Nicole got boiled beef and I got chili chicken. We both also got a delicious little bowl of hot and sour soup and a little appetizer.
Tab and I started the day poking around our favorite thrift shop. I ended up trying on a couple
pairs of pants, and found the cutest jeans in the world (Unfortunently, I have no good pics,
so I'll try and get some for my fit log later).
Afterwards, we made our way to this fantastic cobbler shop Tab discovered ("Classic Cobbler" in Bronzeville, for all those interested").
After our cobbler, strolled around Wicker Park for a bit before meeting up with our buddies. To celebrate her graduation, Tab wanted to go to Pierogi Kitchen. It was SOOO GOOD!!!
The food was absolutely delicious. I couldn't get pics of all of it, but we ordered three plates of pierogis (one brisket, two cheese), a Kielbasa Platter, Zapiekanka, truffle fries, and chicken wings. Nothing went wasted.
Tab, Mae, Nicole and I all got Polish lagers, while Riane got wine and Maison got a little fruity strawberry drink. We very quickly decended into silly-gooseness. It is so rare all my favorite people are together in one single place like this. We had many wonderful laughs.
To end the night, we went to the best place on planet earth: Dorothy's.
